Fuerteventura Overview

The popularity of Fuerteventura is due to the expanses of open land and the vast potential for property investment. Fuerteventura boasts the longest and perhaps best beaches in the Canary Islands. In comparison to the other islands Fuerteventura is relatively underdeveloped but, increased tourism and massive property investment have put Fuerteventura firmly on the tourist trail.

Corralejo, the oldest of the main town areas in Fuerteventura, has expanded greatly over the last 10 years and has proved extremely popular with tourists and the relocated British ex-pat community alike. However, it also attracts a great many other Europeans and therefore has a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. Corralejo provides both stunning beaches, exquisite views of Lobos and Lanzarote, a broad range of water sport activities and a variety of restaurants and bars.

To the South of Corralejo, a 40 minute drive by bus or car will bring you to the main town and port area of Puerto del Rosario, in which lies the main shopping area. The environment is predominately Spanish and there are a number late night bars and clubs.

Minutes from Puerto del Rosario lies the pretty holiday area of Calete de Fuste.  Caleta's central location makes it easy for holiday makers to hire a car and explore the island and Golf enthusiasts will be impressed with the 18 hole 70 par course which has recently hosted the 4th round of the Spanish Open; Canarias Open de España.

Past the picturesque fishing village of Gran Tarajal, at the very South of the Island lies the tranquil town of Morro Jable, and the National Park area of Jandia.  This area of Fuerteventura still retains many of it's original features and customs and development in this area has been much slower. Here you can enjoy a typically Canarian lifestyle and this area has proven very popular with the German and Spanish tourist markets.  The outstanding views and slower development growth make property purchase here particuarly attractive for the longer term investor.
